The Apalachee Bay Yacht Club in Shell Point is one of thirty members of the Gulf Yachting Association. Member clubs are situated along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida. Until 1995, the beach at Shell Point was in private hands. Today, it is maintained by Wakulla County. One can venture beyond this smaller, local beach to either Peninsula State Park or to St. George’s Island. Those beaches are often ranked among the best in the entire world, and they are only about 1-1.5 hrs away.
Sport fishing in the Gulf is also top-rate. Avid fishermen pursue tarpon, redfish, black bass, grouper, and many other saltwater species. Wakulla Springs State Park, just ten minutes away, offers fantastic speckled trout fishing thanks to the freshwater springs in the area. No wonder many work with property management in Shell Point FL to arrange a rental for a fishing trip here.
